Guide: Advanced Infrastructure & Grid Strategy
As your town survives the first few days, your focus must shift from simple survival to long-term sustainability and industrial dominance.
1. High-Tier Base Builds
Once the basic Watchtower and Well are secure, prioritize these advanced structures:
- Research Lab II: A massive upgrade (60 Scrap) that unlocks a second research slot and increases research speed by 20%. This is critical for scaling your town’s technical capabilities.
- Battery Storage: Increases max power capacity by +20%. This provides a vital buffer for when the town is under siege or fuel is scarce.
- Fuel Refinery: Converts Chemical Sludge into stable generator fuel. This allows the town to survive even if Gasoline Canisters are not being found.
- Beacon Amplifier: A specialized system that improves town-wide movement efficiency in the darkness.
2. Professional Grid Expansion
The “Loot Highway” is more than just a line of poles; it’s the lifeblood of your town’s industry.
The Industrial Hub
To produce advanced materials like Alloy Plates and Logic Cores, you must connect the grid to an Industrial or Electronic Lab tile.
- Step 1: Build Power Poles until they are adjacent to the target tile.
- Step 2: Ensure a player with Field Engineering (Lvl 1 for Industrial, Lvl 2 for Labs) is present to activate the facility.
- Step 3: Once powered, these tiles allow for the production of specialized components needed for the highest-tier builds.
Sentry Coverage
During the Nightly Siege, breaches are your greatest threat.
- Placement: Place Automated Sentry turrets near your most critical “Highways” or the Base.
- Ammo Management: Remember that Sentries consume 10 ammo per night. Coordinate with the town’s scavengers to ensure the Base Bank is always stocked with metal to produce ammo.
3. Power Grid Optimization
- Solar Panels: Every array you build reduces the daily base power drain by 10%. In the late game, a large solar array can make your town almost self-sustaining during the day.
- Grid Redundancy: Avoid “single-pole” bottlenecks. If one pole is destroyed or a threat emerges nearby, a redundant “loop” in your grid can prevent an entire sector of the map from falling into darkness.
- Scrap Workshop Buff: When building your grid, consider the Scrap Workshop. It reduces the AP cost of Searching by 25% within 1 hex of the base—making it the perfect area for your most intensive scavenging operations.
