Mechanism: User Interface and Navigation

The primary interface for player actions is located at the bottom of the screen and includes:

  • Scavenge: Accesses the map and current hex interaction tools.
  • Inventory: Manages carried items, equipment, resources, and access to the Recipes menu.
  • Skills: Opens the permanent progression menu for character upgrades.
  • Chat: Provides communication with other survivors. Opens in the bottom right of the screen.

Dynamic Action System

The UI is context-sensitive. Specific buttons and actions unlock only when certain conditions are met:

  • Location-Based:
    • Tile: Base: Unlocks the “Enter Base” button on the bottom menu, granting access to the Town Bank and Construction projects.
    • Relay: Likely unlocks unique interaction buttons for signal transmission.
  • Requirement-Based: Having specific items or skills (e.g., “Field Engineering”) may reveal previously hidden options.
  • Event-Based: Current Expedition Objectives may trigger temporary buttons for quest-specific actions.

Notes

  • The “Chat” button reinforces the collaborative nature of the game, allowing for coordination on objectives.
  • Context-sensitive buttons help keep the interface clean while guiding players toward relevant tasks.
